介词under的用法与搭配

　　为了提高中国AEIS考试培训中心的同学的英语水平，中国AEIS考试培训中心频道会时常给大家带来AEIS考试技巧。

　　1. under 的基本义为“在……下”，既可用于具体的事物，如under the table(在桌下)，under the tree(在树下) 等，也可用于某些抽象名词。如：

　　under [in] the circumstances 在这些情况下

　　under present conditions 在目前情况下

　　under sb’s leadership 在某人的领导下

　　under one’s direction 在某人的指导下

　　under the care of… 在……的照顾下

　　under one’s control 在某人的控制下

　　2. 有时英语虽然用了介词 under, 但在汉语中却并不译为“在……下”。如：

　　He wore a vest under his jacket. 他在夹克里穿了件背心。

　　I was under the impression that he was honest, but in fact he was a thief. 我认为他很诚实，但实际上他是个贼。

　　3. under 后接某些具有动作意义的名词，表示“在……中”，并且这类结构往往含有被动意义。如under consideration(在考虑中)，under construction(在建设中)，under trial(在诉讼中)，under medical treatment(在治疗中)，under attack(受到袭击)，under study(在研究中)，under review(在检查中)，under fire(在炮火中)等。比较：

　　The plan is now under discussion.=The plan is now being discussed. 计划正在讨论中。

　　The prisoner was still under examination.=The prisoner was still being examined. 囚犯仍在受审。

　　4. 在很多情况下汉语中“在……下”并不能用英语的 under 来套译。如：

　　(1) 表示在某人的帮助下，一般用介词 with。如：

　　He got back his wallet with the help of the police. 在警察的帮助下，他找回了自己的钱包。

　　(2) 表示在(太)阳光下，一般用介词 in。如：

　　Don’t read in the sun. 不要在阳光下看书。

　　The cat likes to sit in the sun. 猫喜欢坐在阳光下(即晒太阳)。

　　若要强调“太阳直射”或“炎热”，有时也用 under。如：

　　under the burning sun of midsummer 在盛夏的灼热阳光下(www.yygrammar.com)

　　成语 under the sun, 不是指在太阳下，而是指“天下”“世上”等。如：

　　It’s the best wine under the sun. 这是世上最好的酒。

　　(3) 表示借光做某事，一般用介词by。如：

　　He worked by the light of a candle. 他在烛光下工作。
